I wish I could give a big hug to every person who has struggled with being honest about their sexual identity. I am here for every gay male and lesbian who has suffered horribly because of the guilt caused from the hatred that has been doled out, particularly, by Fundamental Christians.
First of all, those haters don’t represent Jesus even though they boast that they do. They are just regurgitating stuff that they have been taught by their crooked shepherds. They don’t know Jesus.
So, how do I know this?
I’ve been studying Jesus for almost four decades, not through religious teachers but on my own. And, I have good news for homosexuals.
Let’s start by reviewing a little history. The hateful message that we hear coming from Christian pulpits today, regarding homosexuality, was introduced by Rev. Jerry Falwell in 1979. The Moral Majority was an organization that he formed to encourage pastors to influence politics.
They were to tell their congregations to align with the Republican Party who agreed to support their agenda in exchange for their votes. The mission of the Moral Majority was to: abolish abortion, oppress homosexuals by denying rights, and to put prayer back in schools. Even though Jerry’s organization folded in 1989 due to financial mismanagement, we can see in our modern politics that he accomplished his goal. This Christian campaign has been a massive attack against homosexuals for the past four decades, and it does not represent the views of Jesus.
Their biblical stance against homosexuality is based upon a law of Moses, an ancient story about Sodom and Gomorrah, and a reference made by the self-appointed Apostle, named Paul. Their argument is actually quite weak, and I could easily debate it. However, there is no debating this group. They are taught to hate homosexuals, and they will not back down. In reality, they act like the same group who murdered Jesus.
The religious leaders in first century Jewish Palestine, thought Jesus was worthy of death because he told people that they were forgiven. Jesus eased the excruciating pains of guilt that were placed upon their people by their harsh religion, and God has shown me that many who were comforted by Jesus were those who struggled with the guilt of their homosexual preferences. They were living with the unbearable thought that they could never please God because of their religious laws that condemn homosexuality, and Jesus let them know that God accepted them.
Because he was spiritually in tune with God, Jesus demonstrated throughout the Gospels that he had a keen insight into the human psyche and physiology. Therefore, Jesus must have known the truth—there are people born with a natural attraction to the opposite sex. And, thanks to science, we now know why.
Sex characteristics are manifested by the hormones produced by the mother, and they do affect the fetus. A human’s sex (male or female) is determined by the chromosomal matching of XX or XY, but the sex characteristics are influenced by the maternal hormones that bathe the fetus for nine months.
There are many things that cause these hormones to get off balance, and one of them is stress. When a woman is under intense stress during pregnancy, the progesterone, testosterone, estrogen balance is affected, and these hormones have a profound effect on the developing fetus. Here is a good example.
On postmortem exam, they have found the hypothalamus in the brain of some homosexual males to resemble that of a female’s hypothalamus. That is not caused by sin, rather, it is cause by the effects of maternal hormones on the fetus. This male child is born and has an attraction to males.
Throughout the ages, people have acted like wild birds trying to peck the eyes out of these vulnerable individuals, and this Christian doctrine that condemns homosexuals, perpetuates it. My heart breaks to think how many have lived this nightmare of cruel treatment by others, and I wonder how many have ended their own lives to find reprieve.
To all of you who have endured, I’m here to give you a big hug, and to let you know, like Jesus did, that you are fine with God—just the way you are.
