Isaiah 42

Now that I’ve discussed the Hebrew Bible in my last post, I want to share one of the most amazing chapters in the Old Testament.

It can be found in Isaiah 42 as recorded in the Hebrew Bible, and I refer to this passage often in my writings.

This is my servant, whom I uphold, My chosen one, in whom I delight. I have put My spirit upon him, he shall teach the true way to the nations.

He shall not cry out or shout aloud, or make his voice heard in the streets, He shall not break even a bruised reed or snuff out a dim wick.

He shall bring forth the true way. He shall not grow dim or be bruised till he has established the true way on earth; and the coastlands shall await his teaching. (Isaiah 42:1-4 Hebrew Bible/JPS version)

It is clear by the above passage that the chosen one is Yeshua, and that it was God’s will for Yeshua not to be bruised or grow dim until he had established the true way on earth.

Even the coastlands, which means distant lands, awaited his teaching.

Isaiah continues on and gives God’s vision for his people and their role upon the earth:

a light of nations, opening eyes deprived of light, to rescue prisoners from confinement, from dungeons, those who sit in darkness.

Yeshua did these things during his short life.

However, Isaiah’s vision for God’s plan never came to fruition, because Yeshua never made it out of his own country alive.

And, after his death, the ones who profess to have faith in him did not follow his spiritual path to become a light of nations.

Instead, they created a religion out of the death of Christ, claiming that it was God’s will for Yeshua to die for the sins of the world.

That doctrine cannot be reconciled with the above passage where God’s will regarding his chosen one was clearly written by Isaiah.

And, that is why the tone of God’s message changes by verse 13.

The Lord goes forth like a warrior, like a fighter He whips up his rage. He yells, He roars aloud, He charges upon his enemies.

I have kept silent for far too long, kept still and restrained Myself; Now I will scream like a woman in labor, I will pant and I will gasp.

Hills and heights will I scorch, cause all their green to wither; I will turn rivers into isles, and dry the marshes up.

If it was God’s will for his chosen one to be murdered and used as a human sacrifice, then, why is he so angry in this passage?

Think about it.

Because, their doctrine is not true, and God has been silent now for two thousand years while this mess, called the Christian religion, is running its course.

Here’s one small example of why I call it a mess.

The Baptist Convention recently had to appoint a new president to oversee their leaders because of the hundreds of allegations of child sexual abuse that were coming forward from their churches.

And, don’t be fooled into thinking that it’s only happening to the Catholics or Baptists.

This is happening everywhere.

Yeshua required upmost moral integrity from his disciples. Not only in their actions, but in their thought lives as well.

Does this look like a group that follows the teachings of Christ?

NO!

Christ said that anyone who causes one of these little ones to stumble, it is better for a millstone to be tied around their necks and for them to be tossed into the sea, rather than for the judgement that awaits them.

And, these people call themselves Christians.

Therefore, if you call yourself a Christian, then your robe is stained with their filth.

It is time to wash yourselves clean, and come out from among them. By staying in a “body” with them, you are guilty of their wickedness.

And, in verse 18, Isaiah addresses the ones who are part of this “body.”

Listen, you who are deaf; you who are blind, look up and see!

Who is so blind as My servant. So deaf as the messenger I send? Who is so blind as the chosen one, So blind as the servant of the Lord?

Seeing many things, he gives no heed; with ears open, he hears nothing.

Why would God’s servant be blind and deaf?

Because, Yeshua was murdered and dead people can’t see or hear.

Not only was he murdered, but he was turned into an idol that people worship, all the while they don’t observe his teachings.

Idols cannot see or hear.

In concluding his thought, Isaiah says it beautifully in verse 21 as he further reveals the will of God.

The Lord desires His servant’s vindication, that he may magnify and glorify His teaching.

If God orchestrated the death of Christ as the Christian Church claims, then why does He want Yeshua’s vindication?

Vindication is only sought to right a wrong.

The will of God will only be done when people finally see the truth about the death of Christ and have a spiritual awakening to the very reason that Yeshua was sent out by God in the first place.

He was a spiritual teacher sent to teach the true way.
